More than meets the eye.

Before I start, I refuse to acknowledge the Michael Bay movies in any way as Transformers, they don't have the same heart as any other incarnation, if I go any further in depth than that it'll be a post all of it's own.

If we're going to be talking about the geeky things we're into, transformers is one that's almost religious for me. I loved the show growing up, it was one of my favorite morning cartoons
i'd watch before school. I had a decent amount of the toys too, but it doesn't stop there, the 1986 movie was(and still is) my favorite movie, to this day I can still quote it almost word for word.

Four years ago I thought I'd try reading the comics. I started with the All hail Megatron series, it was a lot darker than the cartoons i remember but I loved every minute of it and found myself craving more and more stories about my favorite bots so i kept going through the other series til I'm up to date with the more than meets the eye stories.

On our first visit to San Diego comicon, Jamie pre ordered me the Covenant of Primus when it finally arrived I originally sat it off to the side(too much reading involved) but thanks to netflix, I watched the Transformers prime cartoon which was full of nods and easter eggs for the original cartoon, the comics and even the covenant of primus. I had to read it after how good that cartoon was, as soon as i started reading it though i found myself unable to put it down.

It doesn't stop there, our house seems to be filled with transformers

I'd always said I'd never be one of those guys who buys a toy and doesn't take it out of the box but I've failed on that goal. Jamie bought me the 30th anniversary year of the horse limited edition Optimus Prime

.
There are others though which have come out of the box. Of course

I'm such a big kid at heart.

               Til all are one     MAT

Who the?

Hi Everyone,

After Mat's post I thought I should introduce us. Tough task. I could write forever, but that would be boring as hell.
I was going to list all the things we are into, but that list is LONG and it will be more fun to have separate posts for each of the fandoms so stay tuned for that.

This post then will be a brief intro to who we are, what we do for a living, and the general day to day introductory questions people might ask.

Who are we?
Well, I'm Jamie. I live with Mat who, if you have read the previous post, is my husband, and we have a baby boy, Connor. We've been a couple since high school and have shared a love of comics, cartoons, video games, tv shows, movies and music.
We are children of the 80s (both born 1984), so having grown up in the "rise of the consoles" we love our video games, although there's not a lot of time for that anymore.
Oh, and in case you're wondering about our "weird" spelling or mannerisms, we live in Australia. In other words, if you live in North America, some words might look like they are spelled incorrectly.

Jobs?
I'm currently on Maternity Leave from my job but when I go back, I'm the Senior Geologist for a mining company. Mat works as a Diesel Fitter (Mechanic) for a Heavy Machinery manufacturer, and he mostly works at mine sites.

Pets?
We have 2 dogs, Abby and Bella (more on them in future posts).

Cars?
Yep. We have a Mazda CX5 as our daily driver and a 1975 Mazda 929 with a rotary engine as the sunday driver. I'm sure Mat will talk (at length) about that in a future post. That car is HIS baby.

Favourite Holiday Spot?
San Diego...in July...during Comic Con

Ok, I could go on and on and on (I tend to do that...sorry), so I'll leave it at that for now.

Until next time

Jamie

It's about time

We're a bit late to this blogging thing but over the last years, at one time or another the wife and I have both wanted to do a blog each. Work, life, tv and all sorts of other things have gotten in the way. Rather than give up though we're going to do a joint blog, each of us doing our own posts, whatever we feel we need to put down or get out there. It'll be a rather eclectic bunch of posts, we have quite a few groups of friends but none share all of our interests.  We don't expect anyone to enjoy all of the blog but hopefully there'll be something for anyone.

I have no idea what my sign off will be so for now this is MAT
